Preparations for AFRICA

These weeks before I leave for Africa have been hectic!!! Dianne and I have been shopping for the various supplies, clothes, and gifts that we need to take with us. Plus, many friends have given generously for this mission. You would think that 2 bags holding 100 pounds would amount to more than what we have packed!!! I told someone that I don't believe we could pack even one more Q tip in our bags for fear of being overweight!

In addition to packing, I had my 40th class reunion Saturday night in my hometown of Warsaw, IL! In order to get me there, we have had to do the car shuffle because my car (and Carleigh's) is in the shop getting repaired from the damage that a poor deer did to it several weeks ago. They told us ONE WEEK, but it's been 2 1/2 weeks and we still don't have it!!! Anyway, the class reunion was great.

Having met all of Team 3, I'm definitely the SENIOR MEMBER on this GFR trip to Africa!!! That doesn't bother me in the least. I am just PRAISING GOD for allowing me to be healthy enough to make the trip. I have been on other mission trips and I've been out of the country many times, but I am convinced that there has never been anything in my life that will compare to what I'm about to experience in Uganda. And I am just giddy thinking about how God is going to change me!!! My only regret is that I wish I had done this YEARS AND YEARS ago, but I know it's God's perfect timing for my life!!

We leave in 2 days, so I still have last minute things to do. I already read the book I bought to read in Africa, so I have to get something else. Plus, a couple deflated soccer balls! You can never take too many soccer balls!!
